What to Look For In a Hotel...
After researching many hotels and ammenities, here are the most important things to look for in a hotel:
Good Location. If you are walking, are you close enough to walk to several area attractions? Are you close to the bus or subway if you plan on using them? Is the hotel in a safe location?
Basic Comforts. Many people preferred a private bathroom (en suite), decent beds and sheets, free parking, wi-fi in the room, tv/cable, small refridgerator, and a continental breakfast or a full breakfast.
Price. Are you willing to pay more for a better quality hotel with additional ammenities, or are you looking for something more economical yet still in good, clean condition?
High on the list was cleanliness and attractive decor. What does the place smell like? Is it smoky or does it have a funky odor? This can be a real-turn off, even if the place looks clean.
Extras. Do you need room/concierge service? Does the hotel have a swimming pool, restaurant/bar, or recreation area?
You will have to decide, based on your destination and the ammenities you absolutely must have, and the ones you can do without. Also consider how much time you will be in the hotel. If you will be site-seeing from morning to night, maybe you don't need all the extra stuff.
